This website was commissioned in an attempt to locate all Junior Recruits who enlisted from October 1973 forming the 45th Rhodes and Howden RAN intake at HMAS LEEUWIN.

Of this intake there were approximately 90 boys between the age of 15 and 16, however only 80 odd eventually passed out according to our records.

Most of the boys went to HMAS Cerberus, Albatross and Watson for course training after Leeuwin. Some boys went on to become Midshipman at HMAS Cresswell, several transferred to RANATE HMAS Nirimba for Apprentice training.

The intention of this website is to now reunite the 45th intake and hopefully gather many of the remaining members to celebrate the up coming "JR's Memorial dedication ceremony & Reunion " in Perth on July 13th 2010.

Many of our fellow JRTS intakes have dedicated websites and have celebrated reunions over the past years Unfortunately we at the 45th have not been so organised, hopefully we can change that with my efforts and your assistance from this point onwards.

As a proud member of Leeuwin and the RAN I guess the feeling of “belonging” as a Junior Recruit is a little something we can all hold on to as we head down the road towards the final sunset!

The website is also for all the Junior Recruits that have passed through the gates of HMAS LEEUWIN who are still serving in uniform, civvies or retired. We must also reflect upon those who are no longer with us due to unfortunate circumstances. May they Rest in Peace.

I welcome all serving and retired members of the defence family including civilians to this website, and hope you enjoy your visit now and in the future. Please feel free to contact me to assist in growing the information and database of our intake.

I am also involved with the Golden 50th Reunion as the Communications Manager on the Organising Committee. I would like to welcome any material you may think relevant to the JRTS programe, as I am assisting with several possible publications and websites related to the event.

It is anticipated that this website will remain active for many years to come, it does not have all the bells and whitsles as this site is basic and on the low budget end of technology. Any donations towards an upgarde would be most grateful as it will continue to provide a written and pictorial history of all our endeavors and achievements.

Most importantly this site will also become the focal point where we at the 45th intake can remain in constant contact with each other into our future years and beyond.
